About OpenZen

Progress becomes valuable when it reaches people.

OpenZen is an independent, non-commercial social technology initiative from English churches. We develop comprehensible digital tools that use artificial intelligence where it can facilitate a clear next step.

Our Mission

No more technology for the sake of technology. more clarity, access and self-employedness.

New technologies promise a lot, but often reach first and technically experienced people. OpenZen wants to make this gap smaller.

We start with situations where uncertainty costs time, strength or dignity. From this we develop as simple applications as possible: to find support, to understand everyday information, and to make easier access to publicly available offers.

AI is not self-determination; it is a tool—and its value is revealed only when a person can take a meaningful next step.

How we decide

Four principles for responsible digital assistance.

01

The problem comes first.

We first ask what people are getting troubled today. Only then we decide whether and how technology can help.

02

Understanding is a feature

Clear language, few steps and visible boundaries are as important to us as technical function.

03

Development of data savings

We avoid unnecessary data collection and treat privacy not as a footnote, but as a design decision.

04

People hold responsibility

Our tools support guidance. decisions in medicine, authorities and counseling remain with people and specialists.

Who stands behind

Artem Stukalo, founder and developer of OpenZen

Responsibility begins with a name.

Artem Stukalo · founder and developer of OpenZen

I am Artem Stukalo, iOS and macOS developer and founder of OpenZen. I am from Ukraine and live since 2022 with my family in Germany. The re-start in a new country has shown me how hard even simple daily steps can become when information is incomprehensible, language complicated or digital offers are not understandable for everyone.

This experience isOpenZenI develop tools that don’t engage people with technology, but allow them to take a comprehensible next step – in saving, seeking help, in health contacts, or in understanding documents.

OpenZen is currently an independent, non-commercial initiative in construction. For the development, product decisions and the published information I am personally responsible. Open questions and known boundaries I make visible instead of promising more than it is already reviewed.

Transparency

We openly show what is already there – and what is still coming up.

Four products are in different development and publication stages. pilot cooperations, a long-term financing and further steps towards accessibility are under construction. We do not publish invented user numbers, partner logos or impact promises.

Transparency

Independent. in construction. open to cooperation.

OpenZen is currently built through personal development work and own funds. We are not a state agency, no medical institution and do not sell official advice.

Our goal is a sustainable network of users, testing, social institutions, communities and responsible partners. Thus, good ideas will create loadable tools that are really needed in everyday life.
