OpenZen: Help in NRW

A clear, multilingual guide to social and administrative tasks in Germany. OpenZen starts with your situation and shows short prepared steps, document guidance and suitable contacts in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Available on the App Store

OpenZen 1.0.1 is publicly available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store. The app is free, contains no advertising and requires no user account.

What can OpenZen help with?

The app supports situations such as arriving in Germany, losing a job, money worries, letters from public authorities, housing and questions concerning families and children. Short questions lead to a prepared next step.

The directory contains 8,176 published organisations in North Rhine-Westphalia and all 396 cities and municipalities. Search contacts by place, postcode and topic; sources are shown with the entries.

How it works

  1. Choose your situation and answer a few short questions.
  2. View next tasks, document lists and links to official information.
  3. Mark completed steps and continue later on your device.

Optional AI help and offline use

OpenZen AI D can suggest a prepared section from a short description. You confirm the choice before the normal questions and steps begin. AI requires internet access. The prepared workflows and NRW directory are also available offline.

Languages, data and limits

The app supports German, Russian, Ukrainian, English, Arabic and Turkish. The family profile and progress are stored on the device. The saved family profile is not added to AI requests.

OpenZen provides orientation and does not replace legal advice or binding information from an authority. The competent bodies decide on applications, benefits, deadlines and documents. For time-critical letters, always check the legal-remedy notice and the information from the sender.
