How to install

Test version · Mac / Windows / Ubuntu

How it works

After installation, open or refresh YouTube. VOX translates videos into your Chrome menu language and reads the translation aloud.

Installation

Installation will be through the Chrome Web Store: click “Install in Chrome” and confirm adding the extension.

Download ZIP
  1. Download the ZIP and extract it into a separate folder.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  3. Enable Developer mode.
  4. Choose Load unpacked, select that folder and refresh YouTube.

First run: if a language needs setup, open the VOX menu → Prepare languages.

Which videos work?

YouTube videos with available captions. Shorts and live streams are not supported yet.

Which language does it translate into?

Your Chrome menu language. Available languages depend on the browser.

Does processing stay local?

Yes. Translation and speech run on your computer.
